Chiang Mai has an abundance of accommodation options catering to all budgets. There are still many guesthouses in Chiang Mai charging less than 100 baht a night for a room! at the other end of the scale you will not find in difficult parting with many hundreds of dollars for a room in one of Chiang Mai's five star hotels.

Due to the overwhelming number of places to stay and the competition it generates Chiang Mai represents excellent value for money in all price ranges. You will find Chiang Mai a lot better value than Bangkok and other tourist areas in Thailand. Very comfortable air conditioned rooms in some very nice guest houses can be had for around 450 baht. Starting at around 1000 baht a night you can expect a room in a comfortable hotel with swimming pool. From here the sky is the limit. For added comfort and design detailing you can begin to pay many thousands of baht. Their are many small privately run hotels which market themselves as boutique hotels many are worth seeking out, not only do many of them offer superb accommodation in unique surroundings but prices are reasonable and have not used the boutique tag to hike the prices.
