Visit Chiang Rai Province and The Golden Triangle, meeting point of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. Your first stop will be Maekhajan hot springs a good spot to take a morning cup of coffee before heading up to Chiang Saen which is situated on the banks of the mighty Mekong River. Chiang Saen was once the site of an important northern Thai kingdom and much surviving architecture and Buddha images can be found scattered around town. While in Chiang Saen you will also have the option of a boat trip across the Mekong River to the Laos side. The tour will proceed to The Golden Triangle area of Northern Thailand , The meeting Point of Laos Thailand and Myanmar. Mae Sai the Thai border town with Myanmar will be the next stop. This is a good shopping, spot for cheap electrical goods and dried food stuffs from China and Myanmar. You will also get a glimpse of Myanmar itself with it only being situated a mere ten meters away across the river. On the return leg to Chiang Mai we will stop at Akha and Yao hill tribe villages.
