Overview - This three day trip will offer you all the Northern thailand classics: trekking, bamboo rafting and time with the elephants but this trip goes beyond the surface. Our trip will take you to a working village, you actually learn about not just riding the elephants, you will get the chance to teach in the local school and learn about Lanna agriculture hands on.

Day 1 - We pick you up from your accommodation and then head out to our cycle drop off point in the countryside surrounding Chiang Mai. We will wind our way through small village roads and pass fruit farms, rice paddies, seasonal crops and waterways. It depends on the season but you may even get the chance to stop and help with planting or harvesting! After 2 hours we will stop for a well earned lunch. Then we will continue by bike to a waterfall, where you can chill out before we head to our village stay bungalow nestled on the hill side overlooking the village. The rest of the afternoon can be spent taking it easy and in the evening your guide will teach you how to prepare a Thai feast from local ingredients. After Dinner you can wind down by the fire or retire to your bungalow. The choice is yours!

Day 2 - We recommend an early start to catch the mists lifting over the valley and to make the most of the early morning cool air over breakfast. After breakfast we will take a wander down to the paddies in the valley and learn how agriculture has been traditionally carried out here for centuries and is still done now. Its a hands on experience! After a morning in the field we eat lunch then trek up to a waterfall and a local Karen Village. We will overnight in the village and learn about this ethnic minority's way of life and home stay as guests in their village.

Day 3 - The local roosters will ensure you arise early! After breakfast we will visit the local school and after spending the morning there we will trek back to the hillside bungalow accommodation where we can have lunch and enjoy the views of the valley below. Later in the afternoon we will go bathe with the elephants and get an insight into being a mahout and ride them. We will finish the day with a bamboo rafting trip down the Win river before heading back to Chiang Mai.

Transport for this trip
We only employ safe careful drivers and use the most modern transport. Due to road conditions near the Home stay and bicycle transportation we will use a seated and covered pick up truck or a small jeep.

Tour Guides
A Tourist Authority of Thailand licensed and English speaking guide will be provided. We are sorry but we are unable to provide any other languages for this trip.

Provisions
During this Home Stay Experience you will be provided with 7 meals. Lunch and dinner on the 1st day. breakfast, lunch and dinner on the 2nd day and breakfast and lunch on the 3d day. Please have breakfast before you are picked up on your first day. Please inform us if you have any special dietary requirements.

Tour Accommodation.
We will provide you with 2 nights accommodation for this trip. One night at a hill side wooden bungalow overlooking the valley and Thai village and one night in a Karen Village homestay.If you require accommodation before or after the tour please let us know as we can arrange this for you.
